Virtual Data Center Tour
Welcome to the FTMS World Class Facility
Security Office
From the moment you drive up to the front gate of the Advanced Information Technology Center (AITC)
you will understand that security is very important at the AITC. Pictured is the lobby area where
guests are processed by security personnel for admission into the AITC. Preauthorized access is
permitted with a permanently assigned card key to those employees, customers and vendors who are
assigned to work at the AITC on a regular basis. All others gain entry only after processing by the
Security Office. State-of-the-art video surveillance cameras monitor the inside and outside of the
building with those images being recorded on a 24-hour basis. The AITC Security Consultant oversees
the security team, of which at least two Security Officers are on duty 24 x 7. The on-duty Security
Officers use the security system's fourteen independent zones to monitor, restrict, and control access
to the AITC and its grounds.
Vestibule
Pictured is the spacious vestibule of the Advanced Information Technology Center (AITC). The vestibule
is the formal entrance into the AITC. From this vantage point, guests can view the systems monitoring
process of our highly trained Operations Center professionals.
Operations Center
Through the glass wall, visitors can observe the inner workings of a professionally staffed monitoring
department. Technical specialists, using state-of-the-art monitoring tools, can be seen monitoring over
43,000 objects in our computerized systems. The tools that they use include IBM's CANDLE Software
Monitoring System, Focal Point's Mainframe Monitoring System and Computer Associate's TND Enterprise
Monitoring System and other internally developed proprietary systems. Our commitment to automated
monitoring and systems control allows us to operate a large, state-of-the-art data center in an
efficient manner. It's no wonder that an independent benchmarking company rated our facility
"best-in-class".
Raised Floor
The 43,00 square foot computer room at the Advanced Information Technology Center is generally referred
to as the Raised Floor. Our impressive list of equipment housed on the Raised Floor includes multiple
mainframe processors, 100 mid-tier processors, and several hundred Intel servers as well as voice and
data communications routers and servers.
Generator Room
Any one of the three 1500 KW, 2168 HP Caterpillar, 16 cylinder generators shown on this page are
individually capable of supplying the total building electrical load at the Advanced Information
Technology Center (AITC). Each generator has a respective 10,000-gallon fuel storage tank here on the
grounds of the AITC. At current occupancy levels, the AITC has the capability to stand-alone for up
to 30+ days before requiring replenishment of diesel fuel.
Battery Room
Three hundred and ninety Exide 31DX, flooded-cell, lead calcium batteries serve as a constant back up
for the electrical needs of our building and computer systems. This source of electrical power constantly
feeds into the AITC's uninterruptable power system. This efficient UPS system is made possible by the
availability of the batteries to supply the building's power needs until the generators are automatically
started and running sufficiently to take over this process.
